Both Alani and I share a strong belief that all people deserve to feel amazing about their heritage and life. Each one of us has our unique beauty and deserve to feel seen and safe. One of my favorite memories is when I worked as a performing artist teaching English to children as their parents worked so hard in the fields picking fruit. Alani teaches Spanish in a high school. We both wanted this population of women to feel supported and upheld in the highest regard. The thought of anyone feeling less about themselves hurt our hearts.
